Maintenance Responsibilities of a Well Site Supervisor
🔧 1. Equipment Inspection & Preventive Maintenance Oversight
Ensure regular inspection of
rig equipment
, including:
Top drive, mud pumps, rotary table, BOPs
Generators, compressors, and choke manifolds
Confirm all
scheduled preventive maintenance (PM)
is completed per OEM and company standards.
Maintain logs of inspections, service intervals, and repair work.

🧯 2. Pressure Control Equipment Maintenance
Oversee routine inspection, pressure testing, and certification of:
Blowout Preventers (BOPs)
Accumulator units
Annular preventers and rams
Ensure compliance with
well control regulations
and readiness for audits.
🛢️ 3. Fluid System Maintenance
Supervise the upkeep of:
Mud system components (shakers, desanders, pumps, pits)
Completion fluid handling units
Verify that fluid parameters are maintained and systems are leak-free and operational.
🛠️ 4. Utility Systems & Camp Maintenance (if applicable)
Oversee maintenance of:
Water, power, HVAC, lighting, and communication systems
Accommodation units, kitchens, and sanitation facilities
⚙️ 5. Mechanical & Electrical Systems
Coordinate with rig mechanics and electricians for:
Troubleshooting mechanical/electrical failures
Emergency repairs and parts replacements
Maintenance of engines, winches, cranes, and hoisting systems
📋 6. Maintenance Planning & Documentation
Ensure accurate tracking of:
Maintenance schedules
Spare parts inventory
Service records and compliance logs
Support rig audits by ensuring up-to-date documentation
🚧 7. Safety Equipment Maintenance
Monitor the condition and service of:
Fire suppression systems, extinguishers, SCBA gear
Gas detectors, alarms, and emergency shut-off systems
Confirm all life-saving appliances are within inspection validity and operational.
